Job Opening: Full-Time Minister of Children

Second Baptist Church, a diverse and rapidly growing congregation, is seeking a passionate and energetic leader to serve as our Full-Time Minister of Children (Birth–5th Grade).

This is a pivotal role focused on spiritual formation for our current church children and proactive integration with our extensive community ministries.

The Opportunity
The Minister of Children will be responsible for leading all aspects of our birth through 5th grade ministry, currently serving approximately 90 children. This role offers a unique opportunity for immediate impact by serving as the vital spiritual bridge to our highly successful on-site Day Care Center, which enrolls over 155 children in the local community.

Key Responsibilities
Lead all Sunday and Mid-Week Programming: Oversee curriculum, teaching, and engaging programming for all age groups (Birth–5th Grade).

Day Care Integration: Actively build relationships with Day Care families and staff to facilitate spiritual connection and transition into the church body.

Volunteer Development: Recruit, train, and empower a thriving team of adult and student volunteers.

Family Discipleship: Equip parents to be the primary spiritual influencers in their children’s lives.

Major Event Coordination: Plan and execute annual outreach events, including VBS, children’s camp and holiday programs.

Safety and Administration: Ensure the highest standards of spiritual, emotional, and physical safety and security across all children’s ministries.

Qualifications We Value
Passion: A demonstrable, undeniable passion for children and sharing the Gospel with them, their families, and the community.

Education: While not strictly required, a degree in Christian Education, Early Childhood Development, or Seminary/Ministry Training is a significant plus.

Experience: Proven leadership experience (volunteer or paid) in children’s ministry.

Relational Strength: Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a diverse, growing church culture.
